TKP School Values and ‘I Will’ Statements

TK PR2IDE – Our 6 school values

A school-based curriculum has been specially developed by the teachers for the students. School values are taught explicitly in class through stories, videos, role-playing, class discussion, reflections etc. Each value has a slogan, definition and 4 “I WILL” statements.

We are very honoured to have these inspirational speakers to share their experiences with our P6 students. They come with different expertise and experiences from different industries.

Our students were exposed to a variety of career pathways. The speakers who are made up of parent volunteers, alumni and community friends inspire our pupils to dream and set targets for themselves. Our speakers emphasized on the skills, competencies and values which help them to overcome the challenges in life. The sessions turned out to be very engaging though the speakers were appearing in front of them on projected screens in their respective classrooms. It was heartening to see our students taking the opportunities to ask very good questions.

Student Recognition Awards

The school believes in affirming positive qualities demonstrated by the students and aims to highlight the importance of these qualities, as well as the students who consistently exhibit them. The following are the awards given to affirm the students.

a) ECHA Award (National Award)

Outstanding TKP students from Primary 5 and Primary 6 are nominated for his/ her exemplary character and excellent attitude. These students are role models who inspire others to do likewise.

b) Model Pupil of the Year (School-based)

A deserving student from Primary 6 cohort each year is nominated for his/ her exemplary behaviour and excellent attitude.

c) Star Pupil of the Term (Class-based)

A deserving student from every class is nominated each term for being exemplary in most of the school values consistently.

Values in Action (VIA)

Values in Action (VIA) is a key student development experience that supports students' development as socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community, through the learning and application of values, knowledge and skills. VIA fosters student ownership over how they contribute to the community.

As part of VIA, students reflect on:
√   Their experience.
√   The values they have put into practice.
√   How they can continue to contribute meaningfully.

The school uses learning experiences to support students’ development as socially responsible citizens by contributing meaningfully to the community via VIA (Values in Action). This also helps students to foster ownership as they contribute to the society. There is a total of 6 domains where each level focus on.

VIA Level Programme:
In TKP, all students will be equipped with the 5 stages of DT knowledge via Values-In-Action/ Project Work starting in Primary 1. Based on the age appropriateness, certain skills relevant to DT are emphasized in different levels. Through this progressive approach, students will be given opportunities to apply their DT knowledge and skills in problem based activities and acquire dispositions that encourage the development of 21CC:

By end of P6, students will strengthen their knowledge and skills relating to DT, deepen their entrepreneurship mind-set, and apply values (in alignment with school values) which develop students to be socially responsible citizens who contribute meaningfully to the community.
